This sessions introduces the principles and practices of course design, which prepares you for your module 5 - Course Design and Course Development - which is due on the first day of Summer term.

This course is for STAFF and PHD students only.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:
  • use sections to correctly format your documents
  • create and delete bookmarks, endnotes and footnotes
  • create captions and use the AutoCaption facility
  • create an index
FOR LANGUAGE CENTRE STAFF ONLY THEME: FLUENCY SHOW & SHARE is an opportunity for language teachers to meet and share teaching ideas and activities that work well in class and are transferable to other languages. The idea is to have a look at 5 activities in a session, 10 minutes each followed by 5 minutes for comments or questions. If you would like to "SHARE" an activity please let us know the name of the activity. Please come ready to participate as the activities are normally interactive!

  • set table relationships in a database
  • create a form for data entry or data viewing

One-to-one voice coaching is suitable to anyone who feels they can improve their voice and presentation style. The overall aim of the meeting is to answer your questions and work on exercises to address your specific needs. Therefore the objectives are your objectives. The confidential meetings often cover exercises in reducing vocal strain, improving vocal range and variety, clarity and pronunciation, gaining and holding audience attention, making a positive initial impact and keeping control of difficult situations. Sessions are run by Stewart Theobald.

  • add images to an existing presentation using built-in Clip Art galleries of images
  • create drawings using the AutoShapes and the drawing toolbar
  • create flowcharts, tables, charts, organisational charts and diagrams (such as Venn diagrams)

Endnote is bibliographic referencing software which allows you to manage and manipulate your references, and to create bibliographies and citations automatically. This 90 minute session includes: creating a library of references; exporting them into a document as citations and bibliographies. Selecting styles; re-formatting bibliographies; editing citations. Please note all training is provided using Endnote X1 -staff and research students may need to check which version is available in their offices prior to the course.

  • create queries using more than one table
  • edit existing queries
  • create reports to display data
An introduction to finding journal articles using CrossSearcher and LSE Library?s electronic journal databases. Find out how to access, search and download articles effectively. Please note that this session is held in S075 in St Clements Building and not in the Library
